*Skip to the Second post if you just want to see my personal selection of tanking skills and reasoning.*

One of my favorite things about ESO is the extreme flexibility we have when building our characters. With this fact comes a huge undertaking when it comes to figuring out what's best for your character role, and what best fits your playstyle. I have been researching skills here List of Skills and here Stat Effects on Skills trying to figure that out for myself. Also here is a good post on Status Effects. Here's what I've discovered as far as skills that might be useful for tanking, note that this list can more generally be used as a list of crowd controlling abilities. All durations that I have listed are based on maximum skill rank and level. If you think I've missed anything or have incorrect information please let me know in a post below. Enjoy!

Controlling Skills

Taunt

 One-Handed and Shield

    Puncture(15s)

 

Stun (AoE)

  Nightblade - Siphoning

    [ULT]Soul Shred(3s - 6m) -> Soul Tether(4.5s - 6m)

  Sorcerer - Daedric Summoning

    [ULT]Summon Storm Atronach(3s - 6m)

  Sorcerer - Dark Magic

    [ULT]Negate Magic(9.5s - 6m)

  Sorcerer - Storm Calling

    Bolt Escape(2s - nearby)

  Mages Guild

    Fire Rune->Volcanic Rune(4s - 3m)

 

Stun (Single)

  Nightblade - Assassination

    Teleport Strike(1.5s)

  Templar - Aedric Spear

    Focused Charge->Toppling Charge(2.4s)

    Spear Shards->Blazing Spear(2s)

  Two-Handed

    Uppercut(3.5s)

  One-Handed and Shield

    Shield Charge(2s)->Invasion(3s + increases with distance charged)

  Destruction Staff - Fire Staff

    Destructive Touch->Destructive Clench(unknown)

  Vampirism

    Drain Essence(3s)

 

Stun (Conditional)

  Dragonknight - Earthen Heart

    Petrify(12s until target is damaged)

  Nightblade - Assassination

    [ULT]Death Stroke->Incapacitating Strike(3s if player health < target health)

  Nightblade - Shadow

    Veiled Strike(4s if stealthed)

  Nightblade - Siphoning

    Agony(12s until target is damaged)

  Sorcerer - Daedric Summoning

    Unstable Familiar->Volatile Familiar(2s - nearby when familiar dies or spell is toggled)

  Sorcerer - Dark Magic

    Rune Prison->Rune Cage(4s after disorient for 16.6s)

  Templar - Dawn's Wrath

    [ULT]Nova("all enemies in the area" on synergy)

  One-Handed and Shield

    Defensive Posture->Defensive Stance(3s when hit with next projectile)

  Bow

    Venom Arrow(3s if interrupting a cast)

  Destruction Staff

    Force Shock->Crushing Shock(3s if interrupting a cast)

  Lycanthrope

    Pounce(unknown if target is off-balanced)
